Following
is a list of Standing Committees, which meet throughout the year. Every member
of Temple Hillel is invited and encouraged to join, and become involved in any
committee. In order to express your interest or get more information, you may

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES @ Temple Hillel

Sales Position Available: Help sell advertising space in
the Temple Hillel Herald, by making phone calls or sending letters to local
businesses
Ø
Coordinator: for high school students wishing to earn
community service credit.
Ø
PR/Marketing: Help write/design brochures, fliers; contact
local newspapers for publicity
Ø
Office Helping Hands: Volunteers welcome for mailings,
phone calls and more
Ø
Programming or Committee Help: if you would like to get
involved on a committee or have an idea for a program, please call and we’ll get
you
started.
Ø
Friendly Callers: Join us to call Reach Out and say a
friendly “Hello”
Ø
Yartzheit Callers: help make calls to remind members who
have Yartzheit
Ø
Membership: reach out to families who might be interested
in joining; help welcome those who have
Ø
Monte Carlo/Journal: help plan the fun, sell ads, bring in
items for silent auction
Ø
Minyannaires: Attend any of our daily Minyan, and make it
count!!
Ø
Inclusion Committee: Help shape the Temple Hillel to be
inclusive and understanding to people regardless of any disabilities or special
needs.

Israel is Celebrating 60!! : Be part of the planning and
celebration
Ø
Bazaar: Donate items; help set up, help sell, help shop.
Ø
Adult Education: have an idea for a course? Work with the
Rabbi to develop new programs.

Bikkur
Cholim Committee
shall
be responsible for maintaining contact with those congregants who are ill
or homebound (as informed by the membership).
Sherman
Rothblum
Budget
& Finance Committee
will
review all financial matters in relation to the synagogue, prepare the
annual congregational budget and give a regular financial update to the
Board of Trustees.
Building
& House Committee shall arrange for the
supervision, maintenance and repair of all buildings owned or used by the
temple, including the synagogue's physical facilities and properties.
Fund
Raising Committee
is responsible for developing
and carrying out a program and method of fund-raising, solicitation,
special gifts and other means of contributions in the nature of charity to
the synagogue. Such programs include but are not limited to: Bazaar,
Journal Dinner Dance. Kol Nidre Appeal, Yiskor Memorial Book, each with
individual committees.

Holiday
has subcommittees for High Holiday
Honors which oversee the distribution and notification of holiday Aliyot
and Honors; High Holiday Seating & Ticket Committee who ar- range for
the seating of the membership and their paid guests as per temple policy.

Israel
Affairs Committee shall devise and implement
programs to keep temple membership informed of and involved in all affairs
in regard to the congregation and the State of Israel. Moshe Bezalel
Legal
Committee shall consist of members of the
congregation who are attorneys duly admitted to practice in NY State and
lay people who shall review and report to the President and Board of
Trustees as required by the constitution. There is also a Constitution
Sub-Committee which oversees revisions to the present constitution. Michael Feit

Committee is responsible for developing ways and
means to increase membership, solicit new members, retain present members
and conduct an annual membership drive. Michael

Programming
Committee is responsible for developing,
arranging, conducting and coordinating social programs, events and
meetings as approved by the Board of Trustees. Janice

Committee is responsible for all
publicity within and out of the temple, including advertising and
publicity in the newspapers.

Ritual Advisory Committee members shall attend religious services regularly and act as an advisory committee in conjunction with the clergy of the synagogue in relation to all religious services and functions. Harold Feldman; Mike Oshinsky Religious
School Committee:
in
coordination with the Religious School Director and the Rabbi, shall be
responsible for the administration and supervision in all affairs relating
to the elementary religious school maintained by the congregation in
regard to policies, rules & regulations necessary for its effective
administration, within the confines of budget. In addition, there are sub-
committees for the following: Adult Education, Hebrew High School, Junior
Congregation, and Nursery School.

Committee
shall advise and supervise in
all matters relating to the security of the synagogue building and its
membership.

Ushers
Committee
is responsible for greeting,
seating and overseeing the membership and its guests during all religious

UJA
Committee
is responsible for
maintaining a working relationship with UJA and conducting an annual UJA
fund raising campaign.
Allan

Youth
Committee
shall be charged with the
responsibility of overseeing all youth activities through USY, Kadima
& pre-Kadima.

There
are many social organizations:
HAZAK
is a group for adults 55 and over, charted by United Synagogue of
Conservative Judaism, which meets for social & educational purposes.
Men's Club
is responsible for conducting many social and fundraising activities
through the camaraderie of other men. It conducts an annual blood drive,
Red Magen David ambulance drive, works closely with the Lawrence house,
and hosts a Chanukah party for FEGS.
Howard Rebenstock, President
Parents'
Association
acts as a liaison to the religious
school, its students, families and teachers, by providing support through
social and fundraising functions which enhance the educational process.
The Young Families group exists under these auspices.
Tracey Drayer, President
Sisterhood
associated with the Women's League of
Conservative Judaism, has a strong Social Action group which conducts a
food drive, Dress for Success, and the annual Mother's Day luncheon. lt
runs a Gift Shop and Ruach Readers, and provides functions for social,
educational and fundraising activities.
