President's Monthly Message

Spring has just arrived so that can only mean one thing, Pesach.

This is an exciting time of year as we all make plans for the holiday and look forward to gathering with family and friends at the seder table.

Before beginning our Pesach preparations we would like share information about all the fun we had with the PA’s Purim activities.

On March 17th and 18th the kids filled, shaped and devoured delicious hamantaschen.  Each student had the opportunity to select their favorite fillings while discussing why we enjoy these treats during Purim.  Thanks to the students efforts the halls of the Religious School had a wonderful scent.  Todah Rabah to our parent volunteers, Amy Rebenstock, Cheryl Rubenstein and Eli Shiloah.  We are fortunate that they are always willing to share their culinary skills with us as they make our holidays very festive.

A special thank you to Cheryl Rubenstein for all she did to make our various Purim activities special for everyone.  From putting together the gifts for the kids who participated in the Costume parade during the megillah reading, to preparing mishloach manot for the Religious School teachers on behalf of the PA, she took care of all the details so everyone would enjoy special holiday treats.

Again I want to say a special Yashar Koach to Amy and Howard Rebenstock for their tireless efforts that made our Family Bingo event on Sunday, March 2nd truly fabulous.  Every one who attended had a wonderful time!!

 Wishing you a Zissin Pesach,
Tracey

Parents Association Purpose

The purpose of the Temple Hillel Parent’s Association is to build a closer relationship between the home and the school.  The PA aids the children of Temple Hillel by providing support for their educational and recreational needs and promotes open communication between the school administration, teachers, and parents.  We strive to foster a sense of support, pride, respect and enthusiasm.  Through fund-raising and family activities we promote positive school/community relationships that enhance the children’s educational environment.

The PA cooperates with the Rabbi, Educational Director, and faculty, so that members may understand and contribute to the school’s aims, objectives and educational goals.

In addition, the PA provides many interesting and educational activities for the children. PA organizes a special occasion for each holiday such as decorating the synagogue Sukkah, and making Latkes, Hamantaschen, and Challah.  Through the PA the children and synagogue members enjoy many other activities related closely to Jewish life.  The PA plans many social events for the children and the temple membership at large such as the Chanukah Gala, Purim Seudah, and the fun filled Lag B’Omer picnic.
Annual dues are $18 per family, which helps to provide the children with the activities and goodies they enjoy at each holiday.  To help offset our costs we also hold several fundraisers such as our annual Book Fair and our Passover Candy Sale.

We are very grateful to all of the wonderful parents who volunteer their time and energy to make all of our events a huge success!
