Who We Are...

The Rabbi, Officers and Members of the Board of Trustees great pleasure to welcome you to our Website.

Our Temple has been a source of spirituality and a warm second home to all for five decades. It has always been our aim to serve the Jewish Community by attending to the religious, cultural and social needs of our children, our youth, our singles and our adult friends. Temple Hillel, for 51years has been a shining star in the galaxy of Conservative Congregations in Metropolitan New York. Our effort to enhance Jewish Life in America and to strengthen it in Israel, is a fact well known throughout Long Island and the city of New York. Hundreds of boys and girls who have been Bar and Bat Mitzvah within our Congregation, in later years turned to us for marriage. Our daily Minyan is a source of comfort to those who have been anxious or troubled. Our Temple pilgrimages to Israel are exciting and innovative.

Temple Hillel is never too big to deal with every individual who seeks a progressive house of worship. Our Temple philosophy can be summed up as follows:

A synagogue should be the place where man refines his set of values and discovers this proper place in the scheme of the universe. Everything deteriorates in life: the violin changes its tone; the razor loses its edge; the spark plug gathers carbon, the battery weakens, the watch runs down. In our spiritual life, we also need a regular tuning, a repeated sharpening and a constant winding.

Thus, the worth of a synagogue is determined not by the size of its membership, the dimensions of its budget, or the design of its architecture — but by its influence on the spiritual life of its adherents.

Temple Hillel has a long and proud history of involvement in not only the spiritual life of its members and all of Judaism — but the secular life as well.

Welcome!
